I am looking for a “scratch” recipe for tomato sauce?

I am a chef but would like to have some input from other people too. I have just come back from the market with a bushel of Roma tomatoes and three large bunches of fresh basil. I am thinking Tomato, huge amounts of basil and garlic, a robust red wine (like chianti or valpolecello), chili pepper, and red bell pepper. Anyone have a tried and true, authentic recipe like this?
